OPTIPORT

Introduction

The Terminal Operating Systems (TOS) are advanced systems used to control and monitor the movement of containers in a container terminal. Currently there are multiple design options in the field of TOS based on ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) and BI (Business Intelligence) solutions.

An adequate design of these container terminals would allow a more efficient, safer and more environmentally friendly transport, with a greater resilience to extreme weather events: snowfalls, floods, earthquakes, etc. However, the selection of the best option is not simple since it depends on multiple criteria.

To help in this decision making, OPTIPORT will develop a model based on multicriteria decision theory that will allow the prioritization of different TOS of a container terminal, considering both port and interior terminals.


OPTIPORT is a regional cooperation project developed by AITEC, Infoport Valencia and Intersagunto Terminales.

Results

With the advances developed in this project, it will be obtained a technological solution based on mathematical algorithms for the prioritisation of alternatives that will allow container terminal management companies to capitalize on key transformation technologies, with the objective of selecting and designing management systems of their facilities with the greatest possible optimization and based on their own characteristics. In addition, this solution will help companies boost their innovation and transform their business by increasing the speed, reducing costs and diminishing the management complexity of their container terminals.

 

 

Objectives:

The main objective of this project is to design and implement a technological solution based on the development of a holistic decision making process model for the design of a TOS (Terminal Operating System) of a terminal of containers. The output of the model will be a hierarchy of the different ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) and BI (Business Intelligence) alternatives. The prioritization will be obtained applying the multicriteria decision theory (AHP method).
